  1. I have never looked …
I have never looked at The Phantom’s face in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s adaptation that way. Although, the only reason that The Phantom’s face in his movie adaptation of his Broadway Musical version wasn’t that messed up was because Joel Schumacher didn’t wanna bring the audience “Freddy Krueger Goes to the Opera” and the fact that he wanted to get the point the across that The Phantom is a human. However, I feel as if it should have been worse so the audience feels more sympathy for The Phantom.

  12. I like both …
I like both versions too, but for me the Chaney version is vastly superior. But then again, I like a good blend of horror and romance in Phantom adaptations, and the Lloyd Webber version had more of an emphasis on the romantic aspect of the story than it did on the horror aspect.

i like both versions. Andrew lloyd webber’s version has an impact too, actually because the phantom really isn’t quite so hideous. it makes a pretty contemporary statement about society and it’s demands for perfection. lon chaney will always be the classic phantom though
